The ROG Strix Scar 18 G835LX is an undisputed performance monster that satisfies the most demanding power users. All in all, I appreciate the refreshed design of this 2025 Asus ROG Strix Scar 18, although ergonomics still leave plenty to be desired. The gains in performance are within 15-25% on the CPU side and more or less 10-15% on the GPU side over the previous Scar 18 generation, but the overall behavior is improved, thanks to the refined thermal module and power profiles. But is that enough to justify the price increase between generations, everything factored in? Tough call.

Pros

  • refined chassis design, aesthetics and RGB
  • excellent inputs, decent IO
  • beautiful matte mini LED display
  • more powerful than previous generation in sustained loads and games
  • versatile power profiles, improved cooling over previous Scars
  • good audio with quad-speakers

Cons

  • black smudgy surfaces
  • ergonomics are still hit and miss
  • 10-20% performance gains between generations - is that enough?
  • poor camera
  • expensive!!!
