Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule has finally made its way to theaters on December 5, 2024. The film, which has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year, takes us back into the world of red sandalwood smuggling and the reign of Pushparaju. With Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil reprising their characters from the first installment, the movie also takes us into new terrains, exploring them more deeply. So, here’s the Pinkvilla review for the same! The Plot: The movie Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar, focuses on the tale of Pushparaju, a daily-wage worker who rose through the ranks of a smuggling syndicate. During his rise, he made several enemies and faced numerous threats, which continue to linger in this sequel while also introducing new foes. As Pushpa now leads a married life with his wife, Srivalli, he is portrayed as a doting husband who would do anything for his beloved. This forms the main crux of the story, with the sadistic Bhanwar Singh Shekawat scheming his revenge after his ego was wounded. The rest of the movie revolves around what Pushpa does to maintain his reign as a kingpin while also striving to be the perfect husband for his wife. The Good: One of the best things Pushpa 2: The Rule has to offer is that it gives audiences exactly what they were expecting from a sequel to this franchise. The movie does not falter in delivering a highly masala-packed story, with the unstoppable Pushpa bulldozing through every obstacle that comes his way. With Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil perfectly fitting the bill for what was expected of their characters, Rashmika Mandanna also shines with her portrayal of Srivalli. Her character arc is well-written, standing strong in the narrative, and Rashmika brilliantly embodies what the role demands without overstepping. While the storyline of the sequel offers a relatively thin plot to build on, the narration manages to hold attention in certain places, making it enjoyable at various moments. This adds to the grandeur of the movie, which largely rides on Pushpa’s larger-than-life persona. The dialogues stand out as a highlight, especially those spoken by Fahadh Faasil’s character, who is portrayed as a non-native Telugu speaker. This, combined with the authentic use of the Chittoor region's dialect, adds a layer of realism that is carried over seamlessly from the first installment. On the technical front, Sukumar has executed the movie with expertise, ensuring it remains entertaining for the most part. Key sequences like the introductory fight, the Jaathara festival scene, and the climactic battle are masterfully crafted, deserving special praise for the stunt department’s exceptional work. The placement of the songs Sooseki and Peelings within the narrative feels organic and enhances the viewing experience with clean, engaging choreography. Additionally, the musical soundtrack, designed by Devi Sri Prasad, is a treat to experience, complemented by breathtaking visuals from cinematographer Mirosław Kuba Brożek. The thumping background scores during fight sequences, composed by Sam CS, further elevate the movie, making it as engaging and immersive as possible. The Bad: Coming to the underwhelming aspects of the Allu Arjun starrer, the movie begins to feel redundant due to the thin plot it offers. One of the biggest disappointments lies in the underexplored dynamic rivalry between Pushparaju and Bhanwar Singh Shekawat, which was teased as a major conflict at the tail end of the first installment. While the ego clash between the two men takes center stage, the film fails to deliver the epic showdown it had the potential to become. Despite having immensely talented actors like Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil portraying these pivotal characters, the makers fall short of fully utilizing them. Instead of crafting a climactic confrontation, the movie shifts its focus to a bigger looming threat for Pushpa, which is left to unravel in the third installment. This lack of depth in the screenplay is further compounded by a lagging and drawn-out editing pattern. With a runtime of 3 hours and 20 minutes, the film feels unnecessarily stretched, with several segments that could have been trimmed to improve pacing. Additionally, while the film boasts a massive ensemble cast, the narrative fails to make the audience truly invested in the supporting characters. As a result, viewers are left primarily engaged with Pushparaju’s actions, while other characters fade into the background. These underwhelming aspects leave the film teetering between slightly surpassing its predecessor and merely staying on the same level. The Performances: The biggest takeaways from Pushpa 2: The Rule are the leading actors—Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil. All three deliver exceptional performances, fully embodying their characters and elevating the story, even though the supporting performances feel somewhat lackluster. Allu Arjun, being the wildfire he is, charms us with his portrayal of a larger-than-life action hero, exuding charisma and intensity in every scene. Hamid demands a high amount of red sandalwood and agrees to pay an insanely high amount. But he also demands for the largest consignment ever. Pushpa uses all his contacts to ensure that the client’s needs are met. However, he faces several challenges. SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (Fahadh Faasil) has gone all out to stop Pushpa’s activities. Srinu (Sunil) and Daksha (Anasuya Bharadwaj) also come out to halt Pushpa due to past enmity. They try to influence the syndicate and provoke them to oust Pushpa. On top of it, Pushpa is still mocked by Mohan (Ajay) for being an illegitimate child. What happens next forms the rest of the film.Pushpa 2 – The Rule Movie Story Review: Sukumar’s story is terrific. Sukumar’s screenplay, like the first half, is full of top-notch dramatic and action scenes. Srikanth Vissa’s dialogues are hard-hitting and the Hindi translation is very good.Sukumar’s direction is splendid. The director had a challenge in hand as the previous part had become a sensation. Hence, the sequel had to at least match, if not go beyond the predecessor. In this regard, Sukumar comes out with flying colours. He organically takes the story forward and peppers it with loads of drama, action, emotion, and above all, swag. The film is very lengthy but one won’t mind as every scene screams mass. Moreover, the treatment this time is more Pan-India, which adds to its appeal.On the flipside, despite no boring scene in the film, the film does feel lengthy in places. Secondly, the scene of the female character being harassed by the kidnappers is treated in 90s style and is not in good taste. Lastly, the end credits roll very quickly. It seems like it was added just for the heck of it and is unfair on the part of the hundreds of people who worked tirelessly on the film.PUSHPA 2 – THE RULE begins with a rocking entry sequence of the protagonist and it’ll be loved by the masses. Pushpa’s decision to change the Chief Minister is amusing and this whole track is memorable. His scenes with Shekhawat also stand out, especially at the intermission. Post interval, two songs appear back-to-back but one doesn’t mind as a lot happens in this juncture. Srivalli’s outburst is clapworthy. The way the female character is harassed in the kidnapping scene is slightly distasteful. However, the action scene thereafter is out of the world and will lead to a frenzy in cinemas. The finale is emotional and the film ends with the promise of a third part.Pushpa 2 – The Rule Trailer (Hindi) | Allu Arjun | Rashmika Mandanna | Fahadh FaasilPushpa 2 – The Rule Movie Review Performances: Allu Arjun is outstanding to say the least. He takes his performance a few notches higher compared to the first part and ensures that audiences get their money’s worth. Rashmika Mandanna is a revelation this time. She proves that she’s a fine performer and also has great comic timing. Fahadh Faasil gets lot more screen time and he rocks the show. He speaks a lot through his expressions, which adds to the film’s entertainment quotient. Saurabh Sachdeva is fine in a cameo. Sunil and Anasuya Bharadwaj are over the top but it works for their respective characters. Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari (Keshav) and Rao Ramesh (Siddappa) leave a huge mark. Ajay, Kalpalatha (Pushpa’s mother Parvati), and Pavani Karanam (Pushpa’s niece Kaveri) lend able support. The actors playing Bicha Reddy, Jakha Reddy, Bugga Reddy, CM Narsimha Reddy and MP Pratap Reddy also do well. Sreeleela is sizzling in the item song.Pushpa 2 – The Rule movie music and other technical aspects: Devi Sri Prasad’s music is not of chartbuster variety but the songs are well picturized. ‘Pushpa Pushpa’ is massy while ‘Peelings’ is catchy. ‘Angaaron’ comes at a great point. ‘Kissik’ is again well shot and will be seen in a different light when one understands the context of its lyrics. There’s one more song, ‘Maha Kali’ which is sure to become a talking point. Devi Sri Prasad’s background score is in sync with the film’s theme.Miresłow Kuba Brożek’s cinematography is award worthy especially in the action scenes. Peter Hein, ‘Dragon’ Prakash, Kecha and Navakanth’s action sets new benchmark, especially in the climax. S Ramakrishna and Monica Nigotre’s production design is appealing while Deepali Noor and Sheetal Sharma’s costumes are rich. VFX is superior. It's been just over a month since Apple released the refreshed M4 iMac, so we've finally been able to spend enough time with it to provide MacRumors readers with a comprehensive review ahead of the holiday season. Subscribe to the MacRumors YouTube channel for more videos. Apple didn't make external design changes to the M4 ‌iMac‌ except for tweaking the colors, but it does have the latest M4 chip. You can't get the ‌iMac‌ with the M4 Pro or the M4 Max, as those higher-end chips are limited to the Mac mini and the MacBook Pro, but the M4 in the ‌iMac‌ is more than powerful enough for most people. It can be used for simple tasks like web browsing and watching videos, but it's also powerful enough for photo editing, video editing, graphics work, 3D work, and gaming. Some of the latest console games can be played on the M4 ‌iMac‌ thanks to support for hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading. This year, all M4 Macs come with 16GB RAM minimum with no increase in base cost, which is great. Depending on what you're going to do with your ‌iMac‌, you might want to upgrade the RAM to 24GB or 32GB, but 16GB will get you by for most tasks. You can also get up to 2TB of SSD storage depending on which ‌iMac‌ you pick. The base ‌iMac‌ has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, while higher-end models have four Thunderbolt 4 ports, another nice upgrade compared to the prior-generation ‌iMac‌ that had two Thunderbolt ports and two USB-C ports. Nano-texture, the feature that Apple first brought to the Pro Display XDR, is an option for the ‌iMac‌ this time, so you can get a super matte display that's ideal if you need to work in the sun or in bright lights. If you have an M1 ‌iMac‌ or an ‌iMac‌ with an Intel chip, the M4 ‌iMac‌ is going to be a huge update that's worth it. If you have a newer ‌iMac‌, there's no real reason to update. Airth AC Air Purifier Review: As Winter seeps in, AQI levels in Delhi and most other cities have started to resemble 4-digit ATM pins. With concerning amounts of PM2.5 and PM10 in the air we breathe, purifiers have become an absolute necessity in almost every household. Now, air purifiers don’t come cheap.  Be it top-shelf brands like Dyson or entry-level offerings from the likes of Philips and Honeywell, you will have to prepare to dish out at least Rs 10,000 to get some semblance of air purification in your home or office space. What if I told you there is one air purifier that comes at under Rs 1,500, but still cleverly manages to filter air in your sizeable bedrooms? Airth, a New Delhi-based startup has managed to cleverly mix IIT- and IISc-developed technology with an appliance most of our homes or workspaces have already installed - air conditioners. All you need to do is fit an Airth AC Purifier on your AC (split, window, or cassette variant) and et voilà, you have a fully functioning air purifier in your service. Airth AC Air Purifier Review: Quick Pointers What I Loved: Cost-effective and smart Saves buying yet another home device Can deal with PM2.5 effectively Easy installation Low maintenance What I Don’t: Doesn’t work for ACs without heating mode Clever? Yes. But Is It Effective?  Airth’s air purifier uses technology developed by IIT Kanpur and IISc Bangalore and brings it to your home rather ingeniously. These air purifiers are nothing but slabs of air purifiers with a special coating that is fitted to your AC machine. Installation is not a headache either. If you have a split AC, the purifier comes with magnetic strips that get fixed on top of your machine. If you have a window AC, the purifier uses adhesive tape to stick inside the air grille (see below).  Now, all you need to do is your air purifier as you normally would, and the purifier with significantly reduce the PM2.5 and PM10 particulates in your room.  The clever bit here is that almost every household in India, certainly in cities and townships, has AC units installed. So, leveraging that by adding an effective purifier fitting is a cleverly cost-effective idea.  I tested the window AC unit and found that right after installation, in a closed-room scenario, the PM2.5 level dropped from 160 to an astounding 40 within a matter of minutes. Of course, since the purifier is fitted to an AC powerful enough to deal with the air within a room, this purifier is certainly more effective than an entry-level air purifier with a far less powerful motor and a much lesser room area coverage.  And these are HEPA H10 filters we are talking about, which are generally tested at 95 per cent to 0.3 microns, which is pretty clean and sterile for a home.  When I kept all the windows and the balcony doors open, the PM2.5 level generally remained within 50-75, which is a reasonable level. It should be kept in mind that I was testing this at my South Delhi residence, which means the purifier has to deal with an insanely high level of pollutants to begin with. I’ve no reason to argue that in regions with comparatively clearer air, Airth AC Air Purifiers should work more effectively.  What About Maintenance? During installation, the company personnel told me that one filter is enough to last between 12-18 months.  Now, of course, I haven’t yet got a chance to verify this bit yet, however, I have been using the AC Air Purifier on Fan mode for over a week now, and the PM2.5 on my air sensor stood steady with no major fluctuations.  Also, since this air filter is placed just outside the air grille, your AC unit also remains considerably cleaner, which could lead to a not-so-frequent AC maintenance schedule, which is a blessing.  What Are The Cons? Now, while Airth AC Air Purifiers don’t have any glaring negative issues, there is one issue that felt like a headscratcher to me. In Delhi and most other North India regions, the mercury drops to shivering levels during the Winter months. And not all ACs come with a super-effective heating mode. Matter of fact, when the Delhi Winter truly bites, even the innocent Fan mode feels like a spiny beast.  So, for now, it appears that without a heat mode on my AC, the Airth offering falls short.  Of course, another argument could be that you have to change your filter no matter what, so it’s not a one-time-pay solution. But, no air purifiers are. You have to replace the filters in those machines as well, and HEPA filters don’t come cheap. Airth AC Air Purifier Review: Final Verdict Let’s talk price tags. The window AC model is priced at Rs 1,349 on the official Airth website. The cassette AC model is priced the same, at Rs 1,349. The split AC unit comes in two variants - Winter (for 300+ AQI) priced at Rs 3,199, and Summer (for <200 AQI) priced at Rs 2,199. I’ll just come out and say it. These are insanely cheap prices. Of course, you will need to have an AC in the first place to use them. But, if you look at the cost-effectiveness of it all (including the elimination of one more home appliance), Airth AC Air Purifier is just the right kind of technology that makes sense - lots of smarts with a gust of simplicity (the cheapness of it all is certainly alluring).
